Martha Hughes

Martha Hughes is an interdisciplinary educator and non-profit program manager. Over the past decade, she has taught English as a Second Language in Germany, substitute taught across a wide variety of APS schools, and taught College and Career Readiness courses at Wingate High School on the Navajo Nation. She is the Adults in Education Manager at United Way of Central New Mexico, where she collaborates with educational, non-profit, state/city, and workforce partners to improve educational pathways and opportunities for adults. She is a Fulbright recipient, holds an MA in Intercultural Education, Migration, & Multilingualism from the Karlsruhe University of Education, and a BA in German and English from Coe College. Born and raised in Shiprock, NM, Martha is proud to be a part of New Mexico’s vibrant community and help support students of all ages and backgrounds through her work, hobbies (which include salsa dancing and playing the oboe), and serving on the GBCS Governance Council.
