Tina Martinez

Tina Martinez has 25 years of experience in public education.  She began her career with Albuquerque Public Schools as an assistant in a Special Education classroom that served students with behavioral and emotional disabilities.  She then spent 16 years teaching in the dual-language program at Alvarado Elementary School, teaching in grades 1-4.  After earning her MA in Educational Leadership, Tina served as the Assistant Principal at Wherry Elementary School and Principal at Atrisco Elementary School.  She finished her work with APS in the Title I Department, serving disadvantaged families with opportunities to finish their high school education and acquire English language skills through adult ESL classes.  In her work with Title I, Tina also worked with several nonprofit agencies to connect APS families to various resources, opportunities, and continuing education classes.  She provided professional development in various poverty related topics to APS employees and school staff.  Tina retired from the Albuquerque Public School district in 2024.

Tina is a native northern New Mexican, born and raised in Las Vegas, NM.  She holds a BA in creative writing and her poetry has been published in the Unity Anthology.  She enjoys traveling, dancing, yoga, and various creative art endeavors.
