Gordon Bernell Charter School is seeking a dedicated and mission-driven Adult Education Instructor to join our instructional team at the Metropolitan Detention Center. This is a unique opportunity to support incarcerated adult learners in building foundational academic skills, working toward their high school equivalency (HSE), and transitioning into career pathways.

Role Highlights:
Teach CCR-aligned lessons and facilitate guided/self-paced learning
Prepare students for all sections of the GED/HSE exam
Support students through academic advising and Individual Learning Plans (ILPs)
Develop and implement Integrated Education and Training (IET) programs
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to remove barriers and re-engage learners
Maintain records using systems like LACES, Cariina, and Nucleos

What We’re Looking For:
Experience working with adult learners or nontraditional student populations
Knowledge of GED/HSE content, adult education strategies, and trauma-informed practices
Strong communication, flexibility, and commitment to educational equity
Proficiency with digital tools and instructional platforms
