Simon Gutierrez

As a special education Teacher, Simon Gutierrez is committed to his profession. Simon received a Bachelor’s in Sociology from the University of New Mexico and an Associate’s in Criminal Justice from Central New Mexico Community College. He has a K-12 dual teaching certification in social studies and language arts. In addition, he obtained a teaching certificate from Northern New Mexico Community College in Espinosa, N.M. and a management certificate at GrowBiz International University in Minneapolis, MN. Throughout his 11 years of teaching, Simon taught high school in Tucumcari Public Schools as a high school special education teacher, where he was also a student council advisor, future farmers of America (FFA) sponsor and a transition specialist. Simon continued his teaching career with Albuquerque Public Schools at the Interim Alternative Educational Setting program (IAES) for Homebound Services and the Intensive Support Program at John Adams Middle School as a special education teacher.

Aside from being a teacher, Simon was an intricate part of the city of Albuquerque Tress Manos Program, has worked as a New Mexico state probation and parole officer and as an instructional technician at CNM and for the Computer Aided Instructional Program, helping troubled youth obtain their high school diploma. At the Equip Program at Camino Nuevo Youth Center, he helped students gain life skills needed once they were reintegrated into the community. Simon is now working as a special education teacher at Gordon Bernell Charter School.
