North 4th Students
GBCS High School Program
Gordon Bernell Charter School is a public high school managed through Albuquerque Public Schools. All students 22 or younger on September 5, 2020 will be automatically enrolled in this program. Students must complete 24 required credits and demonstrate competency in 5 subject areas to earn their Public Education of New Mexico recognized Diploma of Excellence. Adults who have aged out of the high school program, but have previously earned enough credits to be classified as a junior or senior and have the time to realistically pursue graduation by the end of the 20-21 school year can also participate in this program.
Adult Programming Options
GBCS currently has several grants in place to provide services to adult students not eligible for the High School Program. Adult Programming students can get support studying for the HiSet (previously known as the GED), build foundational literacy or numeracy skills, participate in career exploration and/or job readiness services, engage in a variety of workshops, and receive social service support and/or referrals.
Current COVID 19 - School Re-Entry phase information
GBCS is currently operating in a 100% virtual setting, meaning that our building is still closed to students at this time. We recognize that in-person learning has many advantages, and please know that we are also eager to see students again, but we must follow all current Emergency Health Orders as well as guidelines from the Public Education Department to ensure the safety and health of our community. Current students can expect to meet either by phone or zoom by appointment with their advisors weekly. Current students without access to a computer can check one out from the school and many classes are now available online. Packet work can be picked up and returned to the school by appointment on Tuesdays. More information is available by calling 916-8618
