About Shayna

Shayna Earnest is a math, science and visual arts teacher and the Indian Education Team Coordinator at the Albuquerque Job Corps Center Campus of Gordon Bernell. A New Mexico native, Shayna has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminology and Sociology from University of New Mexico and an Associate of Science degree in Forensic Evidence Technology from Grossmont College in San Diego, CA. Shayna first worked for Gordon Bernell as an Educational Assistant at the jail, then taught math at Cesar Chavez Charter School in Southeast Albuquerque for three years before returning to Gordon Bernell as a teacher. Teaching students math, science and art through creative, hands-on and culturally relevant projects is her real passion and you can find her students folding origami, building roller coasters in the classroom or working on the Three Sisters Garden Project.
